The sun appeared for the final weekend of the Farmer’s Market.
Patrons rejoiced and spent the morning checking out vegetables and fruits from local growers and sampling Michigan made food such as bread and cheese.
The market opened June 20, a month earlier this year. During the weeks it hasn’t been just about food but having the seeing what local artists are selling and listen to music.
The market also collected old bicycles, in partnership with Bicycles for Humanity. The bikes will go to Ghana.
“We collected just over 300 bicycles at the Clarkston Farmers’ Market this season and are still looking for approximately 140 more,” said Anissa Howard, market director. “Bikes do not have to be in working order and will be fixed when they arrive in Ghana. We also need bike tools and parts.”
Since Clarkston Farmer’s Market has ended, donations can be taken to Kinetic Systems Bicycles, 60 S. Main St. in Downtown Clarkston, 248-625-7000, or call the Clarkston Farmers’ Market at 248-821-4769.
