Goodrich – Your past affects your future, law experts told Goodrich students last week.
Genesee County 67th District Judge John L. Conover and attorney Joseph J. Sefa, a 1957 Goodrich graduate, visited Goodrich High School teacher Jim Jackson’s business law class Feb. 11.
The two shared real-life examples about drinking and driving issues, and the need for wise choices.
The law is much more restrictive today than in years past, with more severe consequences, said Conover and Sefa, who showed video footage of a mock trial held at Atherton High School.
‘Who in here wants to be an attorney?? said Sefa, asking for a show of hands. Only one hand went up.
‘Is it because you don’t feel you’re smart enough??
Sefa’s own high school performance stirred doubts among school counselors, but hard work and determination eventually proved them wrong. Today he speaks to students across Genesee County about the factors of success.
