Once again, Oakland County and the State of Michigan is behind the times.
The reason for the lengthy time to complete and the high cost to resurface Rochester Road is a direct result of no competitive bids.
How many times have we driven past public service road construction sites and see one person working and eight watching?
Many states around the country have come to realize they can no longer afford to staff, purchase and maintain heavy equipment. Therefore, everything from road construction, maintenance and snow removal to landscape maintenance has been contracted out. These states have reported on schedule and on budget results. Just another thought.
