The Lobos U-13 Boys Red Team won all four games allowing only one goal scored to capture the First Place trophy at the Peach Festival in Romeo over Labor Day weekend.
The 11 vs. 11 format is new to the team this year. Head coach Craig Loviska said ‘the team played well because the boys talked it up and made great passes.?
‘They did everything we’ve been doing at practice and it really showed in the games,? he said.
After winning the tournament last year, the Lobos team is showing signs of improvement all over the field including goal keeping, technical skills and strategy.
Trainer Chris Corteg is back again this year continuing to teach the boys technical skills and strategy.
‘At their age some of the boys are maturing physically quicker than others so you can’t allow the size of your opponents to intimidate you,? he said. ‘Depending on your technical skill and playing with an intense focus is important.?
The schedule this year for the Lobos team was tougher than last year due their winning season.
The team added five players this year to accommodate the new format.
Congratulations, Lobos, and good luck this fall!
