William Weaver of Lake Orion will join 149 other male soccer players from across the United States for the adidas Elite Soccer Program (ESP) 2003, to be held at the University of North Carolina Wilmington from July 8-13.
The adidas ESP is a sanctioned U.S. Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program that brings together the best young soccer players for a week of training, competition and classroom experience. Weaver’s club is the Michigan Wolves ’86.
Founded in 1997, adidas ESP is the most recognized developmental soccer camp in the country. More than 100 college coaches have pre-registered to scout the players attending this summer.
The technical director is Jurgen Klinsmann (World Cup champion, European Cup champion; former captain of the German national team, partner in SoccerSolutions, a sports marketing company). Klinsmann is bringing in international specialist coaches from top clubs like Bayern Munich and AC Milan as well as some of the finest coaches in the U.S.
The coaching staff will instruct the players in different aspects of play, share international soccer perspectives, train players in teams and coach both small-sided and full-team competition.
