Clarkston-area mail carrier are collecting food for Lighthouse Emergency Services and other local food banks this Saturday.
‘Many children eat breakfast and lunch at school during the year, and then have nothing to replace it when school lets out,? said Ron Hippensteel, Clarkston postmaster. ‘This food drive fills the cupboards for the summer months.?
To participate, put non-perishable food by your mailbox on Saturday. Carriers will pick it up and deliver it to nearby food banks. Items such as canned tuna, chicken and peanut butter are particularly helpful, but any canned or boxed food is OK.
