As the issue of a possible land swap between the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and a private developer in Oakland Township continues, the Orion Township board has authorized additional fees for the attorney hired to represent the township in opposing the swap.
The property in question is state land on M-24 and private land in Oakland Township adjacent to Bald Mountain Recreation Area. The township is being represented by John Staran of Beier Howlett, and at the Aug. 16 meeting approved spending an additional $5,000 in attorney fees.
The amount covers attorney fees for the remainder of the year.
