There’s a new scholarship available through the Clarkston Joint Scholarship collaboration for area high school seniors.
The Clarkston Foundation recently announced they are adding a third scholarship called the ‘Shelmar Scholarship? with a value of $1,500. Students who are going to pursue a teaching career are encouraged to apply for this specialized scholarship.
Information on this scholarship is being added to the Joint Scholarship Application form available on the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce’s Web site and will be available at the Clarkston High School counseling office.
The Join Scholarship is five area service organizations working together to offer 17 local scholarships. The Joint Scholarship undertaking is chaired by Heidi Wood, Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce, and includes representatives from the Clarkston Area Optimists Club, Clarkston Farm and Garden Club, Clarkston Foundation and the Clarkston Rotary.
‘We hope that a single application form, a coordinated deadline date and joint publicity efforts to encourage students to apply for these local scholarships will increase the number of students applying for these local funds,? Wood said.
The joint application form represents a pool of over $15,000 available. Limit of one scholarship award per student from each organization.
