Oxford Village Police are asking the public to help them find whoever is responsible for two break-ins at the pharmacy inside the Crittenton Medical Plaza (72 S. Washington St.).
On Thursday, May 30 at 11:45 p.m., an unknown person or persons gained entry to the two-story building by shooting out a glass window at the rear entrance (east side). It’s believed a handgun was used.
The suspect or suspects then went to the pharmacy, which is located on the second floor. The pharmacy is protected by a secure door with laminated glass and a security gate in front of it.
The suspect or suspects attempted to gain entry to the pharmacy by shooting at the glass in the secure door.
Unable to access the pharmacy because of the security gate, the suspect or suspects fled before police arrived.
Nothing was stolen.
A K-9 unit and crime lab technician from the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene.
After several attempts, the K-9 unit was unable to establish a track. The crime scene was processed by the sheriff’s forensic lab and everything will be turned over to the village police for further investigation.
A similar incident occurred at the Crittenton building on April 29 around 10:25 p.m. An unknown person or persons shot out the glass at the building’s rear entrance, went to the second floor pharmacy, fired shots into a glass door and entered the pharmacy area.
At that point, a security alarm activated and the suspect or suspects fled the scene. A silver-colored vehicle was spotted in the area. Nothing was stolen.
Spent shell casings and slugs from the same caliber of gun were recovered from the scene following both break-ins, according to village Police Chief Mike Neymanowski.
When asked if he believes the same person (or persons) is responsible for both crimes, the chief replied, ‘There’s no doubt in my mind.?
Anyone with information concerning these crimes is asked to please contact the Oxford Village Police at (248) 628-2581 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
