Oakland County has created a new online flu shot registration system to reduce client wait times and improve efficiency at the Health Division’s annual flu shot clinics, which test the county’s public health preparedness plan.
Manager/Heath Officer George Miller said by completing required paperwork and paying online, clients will be able to virtually walk in and out of the clinic with ease.
Oakland County residents can reserve a flu shot for themselves and other household members by registering and paying online at www.oakgov.com/health.
Online registrants will be automatically assigned to attend the flu clinic closest to their home. Lake Orion High School will host a clinic, along with Hazel Park High School, Holly High School, Southfield Pavilion, South Lyon High School, and Summit Place Mall.
Individuals over the age of 16 with a handicap license plate or hang tag have the option of being assigned to a drive-thru clinic at the Rochester Hills Fire Department.
The Health Division hopes to vaccinate over 10,000 residents in as little as five hours at these clinics. Flu shots are $7, and payment options online include Visa, MasterCard, Medicare and/or Medicaid.
Only cash, Medicare and/or Medicaid are available for payment options for walk-in clients who do not register online.
Oct. 21 is the first opportunity for the public to get a flu shot from the health division.
Flu shots won’t be available at the health division offices until late Oct.
