Citing illness, Joe Armstrong resigned his position as school board treasurer.
“As much as I want to finish my term on the Clarkston Board of Education, health reasons have prevented completion,” Armstrong said in his resignation letter to board President Steve Hyer. “It is with much regret that I present this resignation.”
Armstrong has been absent from board meetings since February 8.
‘He has not been with us recently due to a health issue,? Hyer said at the March 22 meeting. ‘He said he feels badly and enjoyed his time working with the board for the last four years.?
The board has 30 days to fill the vacancy. Applicants can submit a letter of interest and fill out a questionnaire, found on www.clarkston.k12.mi.us. Both items must be addressed to Hyer and dropped off at the board office by 4 p.m., April 12.
“The materials will be posted on the district website in the next day or so,” Hyer said, Tuesday.
The board will interview candidates and vote at its next meeting, April 19.
