Scouts honor’d

As part of the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts of America, four Scouts from southeastern Michigan were selected to spend a day in Lansing. Garrett Kiefer, a First Class Rank Scout with Troop 128 in Lake Orion was one of only two Boy Scouts, and the only representative from Oakland County.
Troop 128 is chartered by St. Mary’s In-The-Hills Church, 2512 Joslyn Court, and meets on Tuesday nights, 6:45 to 8:30 p.m.
Boys age 11 to 17 years are welcome to visit Troop 128 and find out about all the scouting sdventures in the Troop program.

Troop 128 leaders were recently honored for their outstanding work with youth programs in the church and in a national youth organization.
Scoutmaster Brian Kelly of Troop 128, was presented the St. George Award of the Episcopal Church.
Kelly serves as a Sunday school teacher, a Eucharistic minister and lector, and has served on the St. Mary’s vestry.
Kelly’s nomination was approved by The Rt. Reverend Wendell Gibbs, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan, and was presented in a Scout Sunday service at St. Mary’s In-The-Hills. The award was presented by The Reverend Christine Humphrey, Rector of St. Mary’s.
Kelly and his wife, Kim, have two sons, Ian and Alex, both active as acolytes in the church.
David Stanley, assistant scoutmaster for Troop 128, was presented the God and Service Award by the Gingellville Community Church. Stanley has served in many church activities and was presented his award by Pastor Denny Emmons. Stanley and his wife, Donna, have three children, Adam, who is an Eagle Scout and serves as church youth group leader, Andrew and Amanda.
