For the past four years, residents of Cheshire Park condominiums and apartment complex off Walden Center Drive has had their sanitary sewers connected to the wrong pipe.
We know for sure they connected the sanitary sewer into the storm water. I am guessing they connected the storm into the sanitary, but we won’t know that until we dig it up,? said DPW Director Linda Richardson. ‘Either way it’s a bad thing. You don’t want raw sewage going into your wetlands.?
Richardson said they first heard about it last week, and since have contacted both the health department and the contractor who did the job for the complex.
‘The health department was out today (Monday) taking samples to test for E-Coli and there is a crew coming in to do the repair Thurs or Fri,? she said. ‘Once it’s all taken care of I will send my report to the DEQ (Department of Environmental Quality) and it will up to them to decide if there will be fines or anything like that.?
