The sign ordinance debated on by the township board and the sign committee for the past nine months is finally nearing a possible adoption.
By a 5-2 vote, the board declared the first reading held.
This means that the ordinance needs only a second reading to pass.
However, more discussion is planned at the next board meeting on Jan. 17.
