Staying strong

The Wolves continued to rule the snowy hill at Pine Knob as they remained undefeated after racing against Andover and Rochester last Thursday.
During the Giant Slalom, they beat Andover, 13-23, and Rochester, 10-38.
Grant Huber led the Clarkston Boys Varsity Ski team as he took first place during the race, 34. 74. Brent VanItallie finished third, 35.58; Ryan Callahan, fifth, 35.96; Lance Holsbeke, ninth, 36.27; Nathan Rogers, 16th, 36.85; Evan Trout, 22nd, 37.31; and Derek VanItallie, 23rd, 37.40.
They beat Andover, 11-25, and Rochester, 10-33, in the Slalom race.
Derek led during the Slalom taking first place at 44.70. Huber finished second, 45.00; Callahan, third, 45.06; and Trout, eighth, 47.38;
The girls beat Rochester, 14-28, and lost to Andover, 15-22, in the Giant Slalom.
Karoline Holsbeke led the Lady Wolves with a sixth place finish at 38.94. Teammate Olivia Dunn was close behind with her 39.02 finish for seventh place. Lauren Martin took 15th place, 39.85; Caroline Spytman, 29th, 41.68; and Amy Wozniak, 30th, 42.32.
They beat Rochester, 13-27, during the Slalom, and lost to Andover, 17-19.
Holsbeke led during the race, finishing ninth, 57.22. Dunn, 13th, 58.90; Martin, 14th, 59.03; Spytman, 15th, 59.26, Riley Dixon, 27th, 1:03.84; and Arianna Cross, 29th, 1:04.81.
The Traverse City Central Invitational on Monday was cancelled due to weather.
The skiers began their week on Tuesday against Bloomfield Hills Lahser and Waterford.
They race in the Giant Slalom on Wednesday and next Tuesday against Lake Orion.
Both races are at Pine Knob Ski Resort at 4:30 p.m.
