Swim team has strong showing at county meet

This past Saturday, the Oxford Swim and Dive team competed at the Oakland County Championships at Lake Orion High School. Friday night was the diving competition and Saturday was the swimming portion.
The team made four new state cuts and set six new school records.
The athletes scored a total of 59 points for our highest Oxford High School finish at an Oakland County Meet of 14th place out of 32 teams.
Diving: Jared Tasch placed 7th with a personal-best 11-dive score of 327.70.
200 Medley Relay: Cheyne Stresky, Erick Vandecar, Armando Vega, and Jarred Butler qualified for the state meet, set a new school record, and placed 16th in Oakland County with a time of 1:45.84.
200 Freestyle: Jarred Butler had already qualified for the state meet in this event, but he did have a season-best time and a 4th place finish with the time of 1:44.29.
200 Individual Medley: Erick Vandecar qualified for the state meet, set a new school record, and placed 21st in Oakland County with a time of 2:06.05.
50 Freestyle: Blake Hibdon placed 37th in Oakland County with a time of 23.76.
100 Freestyle: Jarred Butler had already qualified for the state meet in this event, but he did set a new school record and placed 3rd in Oakland County with a time of 47.57. Blake Hibdon placed 31st in Oakland County with a time of 52.07.
500 Freestyle: Cheyne Stresky had a personal-best, state qualifying time of 5:00.30 to place 15th in Oakland County.
200 Freestyle Relay: Corey Jones, Sean Terry, Armando Vega, and Blake Hibdon placed 25th in Oakland County with a time of 1:37.56.
100 Backstroke: Cheyne Stresky set a new school record and placed 27th in Oakland County with a time of 59.17.
100 Breaststroke: Erick Vandecar set a new school record and placed 24th in Oakland County with a time of 1:05.47.
400 Freestyle Relay: Cheyne Stresky, Blake Hibdon, Erick Vandecar, and Jarred Butler qualified for the state meet, set a new school record, and placed 11th in Oakland County with a time of 3:23.33.
