Independent Tea Party Patriots hosts state Sen. Patrick Colbeck, 7th District, state Rep. Mike Shirkey and Union Representative Terry Bowman at its meeting, 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Fountains Golf and Banquet Center, 6060 Maybee Road.
Topic includes proposed ‘Freedom to Work? legislation, to give individual employees the option to choose whether they want to join the union or not.
Admission is free.
‘This topic is critical to the potential growth of business in the State and we are excited to have those directly involved with the process attending our meeting,” said Kevin Chase, ITPP spokesperson. “Our goal is to enhance the understanding of all of our members about potential ‘Freedom to Work? legislation and its impact on creating jobs in Michigan,?
Bowman works as a UAW member at the Ford Rawsonville Plant and is president of Union Conservatives. The group promotes balance between the rights of unions and employee members.
Colbeck is a first year Michigan senator and member of the senate majority caucus leadership team. The Seventh District includes Canton, Van Buren, Sumpter, Huron and several other counties in southeastern Michigan.
Shirkey is a business owner and house majority floor whip, representing residents in the Jackson area.
There will also be several local state representatives in attendance.
