Local authors Jason and Ann Cowan, will be holding a round-table discussion about their book, ‘The Chore Solution: Making Families Better by Working Together,? which focuses on the daily challenges of being a family. The session will include tips and tricks on how to make everyone in the family happy and productive.
The discussion will take place from 7-8:30 p.m., Feb. 28, at the Brandon Township Library, 305 South St., Ortonville.
The Cowans have four children ranging from 1-year-old to 15-years-old, and emphasize discipline in effective ways.
‘My husband and I don’t give a set weekly allowance. We pay our kids based on how many chores they do. It’s a win-win situation. If we have a clean house, then the kids get money,? said Ann about her family’s personal chore system.
The couple of two years is a blended family, each having children from previous marriages, and will focus on that aspect of family life as well. They realize that not every family is the same and advise parents to take into account each child’s individual personality.
‘I think it is crucial to make everyone feel important and like their own individual person,? said Ann.
This book is their first project together and they have held a discussion previously in Lapeer.
‘It went really well and we were happy with it so we wanted to do another,? Ann said.
