Groveland Twp.
-At 7 p.m., May 22, the township board of trustees will host the first public meeting to seek input in the update process of the master plan. The meeting will be at the Butzel Retreat Center, 3599 Perryville Road, near Jossman and Barron roads.
The township master plan is a policy document that provides direction for future development.
“It’s been several years since the master plan was last updated,” said Bob DePalma, township supervisor. “We’ve delayed the update a few years until we confirmed the recreation park on Dixie Highway was a go. About 90 percent of the township will stay the same, the 10 percent is up for discussion.”
Key in the discussions are township areas along Dixie Highway and M-15, DePalma said.
“This meeting is a chance for residents to chat about ideas and visions for the township,” he said. “Input from the DNR, Oakland County and the Holly Recreation areas are also part of the meeting.”
A possible new township project will be the replacement of the Michigan State Police detachment and township fire station #1 located at 14645 Dixie Highway.
“One consideration is to sell the property on Dixie Highway to cover the cost of the new facility,” added DePalma.
