Ortonville — A landmark area business is now under new ownership.
Village Funeral Home 135 South St., was recently sold to Christopher J. Modetz who along with his wife Lynn now reside in Ortonville with their two daughters, Julia, and Carol, and two goldendoodle comfort pups, Charlie and Quintin. Both dogs can be found greeting people as they enter the funeral home and spending time comforting those who may want some extra help working through their grief.
“We look forward to being able to serve Ortonville and our surrounding communities, as we continue the legacy of service started by Roy Langolf in 2008,” said Modetz.
Modetz, a 2001 graduate of Livonia Stevenson High School, received his Mortuary Science degree from Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Illinois and became a licensed funeral director in 2005. Christopher has been involved in funeral service since 1997, working in multiple funeral homes throughout Oakland County.
“Michele Baxter and the rest of our caring staff will all be staying to help us provide exceptional care for our community,” he said. “We are large enough to accommodate, but small enough to personally care for every family we serve. And we look forward to meeting the community in the near future.”
Langolf will continue to assist Modetz with the transition over the next two years and be available in numerous capacities.
