Wag & Walk
The K-9 Stray Rescue League will host its 2011 Wag & Walk fund-raiser on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The walkathon will take place at Powell Lake Township Park (adjacent to the Oxford Public Library, 530 Pontiac St.).
Participants can either walk one mile of paved trail or two miles of paved trail and the Polly Ann Trail. In addition to walking, the event will feature a dog contest (best wag and costume), local pet vendors and trainers, and on-site dog adoptions.

Those choosing to register the day of the event between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. will pay $20 per individual or $40 per family.
Treasure sale
Come One, Come All! And bring a friend to the ‘Friends Fabulous Finds ? A Benefit Treasure Sale? hosted by the Friends of the Addison Township Public Library on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Addison Township Complex, 1440 Rochester Road in Lakeville.
Vendors will offer collectibles, antiques, home decor, children’s toys and various handcrafted items such as soaps and candles.
The Friends will also be selling used books and baked goods.
Auction & concert
The Oxford Free Methodist Church (790 S. Lapeer Rd.) is hosting a silent auction and concert on Saturday, May 21 to help raise money to send Pastor Michael Alexander and his family on a mission trip to Africa this summer.
Silent auction will run from 6-7:15 p.m. It will be followed by a Praise Music concert at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature some local praise bands as well as soloists and small groups. A voluntary offering will be taken during the concert.
Auction winners will be announced and dessert served at 8 p.m. Auction items include a deck power-washing, a horseback-riding lesson, jewelry from Pink & Charlie and a silicone manicure from Downtown Salon.

Free recycling event
Clear Lake Elementary (2085 W. Drahner Rd.) will host a free E-waste Recycling Day on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Items accepted: Desktop PCs, and workstations, Notebook and laptop computers, Printers, Laptop bags, Audio Equipment, PDA’s, Home media servers, External hard drives, Cord/wire; computer, electrical, and cable, cameras, caclulators, CD/DVD, Home phones, Clocks, Gaming Equipment, Small appliances,Batteries (including car), Speakers, Keyboards, etc. Please note that all hard drives collected at this event will be destroyed.
Please help keep hazardous materials out of landfills. The Salvation Army will also have a large bin to collect all your non-e-waste items as well.
Any donations will be applied to the Green Team Club (the event’s sponsor) at Clear Lake Elementary.
Free play at OHS
The Oxford Theater Company will present a free performance of ‘Hansel and Gretel? on Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m. in the Oxford High School Performing Arts Center.
Children can follow Hansel and his sister Gretel as they get lost in the forest and are held captive by the evil Gingerbread Witch.
The Theater Company would like to thank the community for their support this year, so this performance will be free of charge.
