Wife fires shotgun at husband

An Orion Township woman, who police say was in the process of divorcing from her husband, has been charged with two counts of felonious assault after the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department said she fired a 12-gauge shotgun at her husband and struck him in the back with a claw hammer.
According to an OCSD report, deputies responded to a call of domestic disturbance at the Waldon Road home of Theresa Ann Strange, 46, and her husband James on Aug. 24 at about 11 p.m.
The OCSD said the couple had been arguing, and Strange had fired a shot at the floor near her husband, who was able to take the gun from her. He tried to run away, which is when police say Strange struck him in the back with a hammer.
An OCSD deputy was able to recover a bullet from the scene.
The couple shares the home with two of Strange’s sons from a previous marriage, ages 16 and 18. The OCSD said Strange has previously been convicted for drunken driving.
She was arraigned on two charges of felonious assault on Aug. 25. Strange has pleaded innocent to the charges and is being held in Oakland County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
Strange is set to appear in the 52-3rd District Court in Rochester Hills on Sept. 2 for a preliminary examination before Judge Julie Nicholson.
