Dogs are a reader’s best friend at the Independence Township Library’s R.E.A.D. to Paws program.
Volunteers bring their Reading Education Assistance Dogs to the library about every month. Children of all ages practice reading aloud by reading to the registered therapy pooches.
“The kids love it,” said Stephanie Wotton, Children’s Department intern, at the Jan. 7 R.E.A.D. session.
Upcoming sessions are 1-2 p.m., Feb. 11, March 31, and May 5 at the library, 6495 Clarkston Road.
