Brandon — On Jan. 16, parents in the Brandon School District received a communication about allegations of criminal misconduct.
The district was made aware of allegations regarding inappropriate relations that occurred between a female contracted employee and two high school students. The incidents occurred off school property, and the district immediately notified law enforcement, child protective services and the contract services firm that employs the staff member. She has been removed from working in the district.
“While the allegations do not appear to involve our campus, our first priority continues to be ensuring the safety and well-being of our students,” said Superintendent Dr. Gary Richards. “We will cooperate in any way possible to expedite the investigation.”
The district confirmed that the allegations occurred independent of any school activities and off of school property.
“We are committed to working with parents and students to ensure that emotional and academic support is available regardless of the issue,” said Richards. “It is our policy not to speculate or comment when a criminal investigation is underway. Any questions regarding this matter should be directed to the proper law enforcement authorities.”
