Letters to the editor April 14

A well-regulated militia
Dear Editor,
I’d just like to take a moment and thank the people who have written in to “The Citizen” recently supporting my views on the subject of Gun Control. Thank You Ken Davis Sr., Lisa Ksiazek, Walt Dilfer and Scott Bills. My apologies if I missed anyone else. Your support and compliments meant a great deal to me.
I see and read about our young students marching in protest of school violence and that’s a good thing. What’s not so good is their (sometimes) misplaced blame on the cause. I would like to suggest to them that before they walk down the road following “The Pied Piper” and blame the NRA they should take the time and go to the NRA website and actually read for themselves what the NRA is all about. It is definitely not about a bunch of beer-bellied gun nuts who hate all minorities. It is quite the opposite. Don’t take my word for it. Read it for yourselves and draw your own conclusions.
For all the anti-gun people out there who want to ban guns ( or at least certain types) and don’t buy into the argument about “a well-regulated militia” then please Google The Battle of Athens (Tenn.) 1946!!!!! Think about Waco,Tx. and Ruby Ridge too. You might find it eye-opening.
Thanks again for your support and kind words,
Paul S. Lucas

A wise old geezer
Dear Editor,
Pity Mr. Paul Lucas. Once again he stepped into a cow pie.
I asked a simple question. If guns were more important than the lives of children. But he equivocated with a muddled, Trump-like rant.
Read a newspaper once in a while and you will find that road rage is rampant. To be literal, guns don’t kill. Bullets do. But an idiot pulls the trigger and more idiots make it legal. I was drafted in 1950 and can match my military gun training to anything the NRA taught you.
I tip my hat to the gun expert Mr. Scott Bills. I errored on the six shells. My father gave me the ranger model 30, 13 gauge pump action he bought from the Sears and Roebuck catalog about 100 years ago. He hunted small game and pheasants. I remain contrite but still a wise old geezer.

New Rule #1
Dear Editor,
New Rule: No one can comment on gun safety unless they can recite the ratio of black powder components.
