PUBLIC NOTICE
ORDINANCE No. 214
Amending Ordinance No. 200
BENEFITS ORDINANCE
An Ordinance to create and establish Groveland Township’s benefit and insurance plan covering public employer contributions to medical benefit plans, life insurance, long term disability insurance, accident insurance, dental & vision insurance as may from time to time be duly authorized, for eligible persons and their respective eligible dependents, and to authorize the Groveland Township Supervisor, Clerk and Treasurer to contract in the name of the Township for such plan(s); to define those classes of eligible employees who shall be covered by such plan(s) as set forth in the summary of Benefits / Insurance in the Groveland Township Employee Manual (7.3 Group Benefits / Insurance as amended 12-12-2017); to set forth the respective funding; to provide for the payroll deduction of contributions, if any, to establish the time at which existing and future employees shall become eligible for such plan; to ratify and confirm the validity of any plan in existence on the effective date of this ordinance; and to repeal all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict.
THE TOWNSHIP OF GROVELAND, OAKLAND COUNTY, MICHIGAN, ORDAINS:
Section 1:
This ordinance shall be known and cited as the Groveland Township Benefits Ordinance.
Section 2: The Groveland Township Board, by action on April 9, 2018
Pursuant to Public Act 77 of 1989, as amended (MCL 41.110b), the Township of Groveland hereby creates and establishes the Groveland Township Benefits and Insurance Plan covering public employer contributions to medical benefit plans, life insurance, long term disability insurance, accident insurance, dental & vision insurance and the MERS (Municipal Employees Retirement System) Health Care Savings Program or other approved HCSP as may from time to time be duly authorized for eligible persons as enumerated herein and/or in the Groveland Township Employee Manual, (12-12-17) as amended.
Section 3: Eligibility
The benefits created, established and contracted for under this division shall cover each eligible person within the Senior Management Group and all full-time Support Staff hired before October 2, 2009, and may also cover the eligible dependents of such person as established in the Groveland Township Employee Manual:
The Township reserves the right to establish the time at which existing and future full-time employees shall become eligible for such plan benefits.
Section 4: Contributions
The Township may pay the required premiums, or a portion as established by the Township Board, to cover eligible employees and their dependents under any approved Township group insurance plan or contributions made on behalf of the eligible employees under IRS rulings for Public Employer Contributions Annual Cost Limitations.
Section 5: Documentation
All the above benefits sought or provided are subject to appropriate documentation, which will control.
Section 6:
The Township hereby ratifies and confirms the validity of any life, long term disability insurance, accident insurance and dental and vision insurance coverage, or any one or more of such forms of insurance in existence on the effective date of this ordinance.
Section 7:
This ordinance shall take effect on the date of its publication. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.

At a regular meeting of the Groveland Township Board held on April 9, 2018 the amended Benefit Ordinance No. 214 was approved by a vote of 4-0.
