Brandon Twp. — On Monday night the Brandon Blackhawk Varsity Baseball team dropped the first game of a doubleheader 5-0 to the Owosso Trojans and tied the nightcap 9-9. The game was called due to darkness.
In the first game on opening night of Flint Metro League play, Trojan pitcher Hayden Smith pitched a shut out and allowed just two Blackhawk hits and struckout four.
“Just too many physical errors,” said Blackhawk Head Coach Greg Glover. “We did not hit the ball well and Owosso made some good plays.”
In the nightcap the Blackhawks rallied late from a 8-2 deficit to tie the game in the seventh inning.
“We really started to hit the ball in the second game and had a chance to win the game late,” said Glover. “We are still committing way too many errors.”
