Brandon Twp. —  On Oct. 13, the Brandon Blackhawks Varsity football team defeated the Kearsley Hornets 27-13 in a Flint Metro League game.
The Blackhawks (4-4) held the Hornets (3-5) scoreless in the first half with solid defense.
“Drew (#20 Hickmott) had a big night,” said Head Coach Brad Zube. “The Kearsley team scored late in the game but our boys were dialed in all night. They came at us with some out of formation plays, but we recognized it and our offense put it in the end zone.”
At 4-4 the Blackhawks are seeded 26 of 32 teams to make the playoffs this season. With a win at Eastpointe on Oct. 20 they are in the playoffs for the eighth consecutive year.
BHS Sr. #33 Jake Difalco tallied 14 tackles, BHS Soph. #10 Carter Aquilina had six tackles along with a fumble recovery; BHS Sr. #42 Issac Miller, 11 tackles, one sack; BHS Sr. #20 Drew Hickmott eight tackles and BHS Soph. #44 Darrin Linenger recorded six tackles and one sack.
