Goodrich — On April 10, the Goodrich Martian Varsity Baseball team kept it close through four innings until giving up eight runs late falling to Powers Catholic High School 10-3 in a non league game at Goodrich. GHS #2 Carson Raether had a double and two RBIs; GHS #3 Gavin Dunn a double, GHS Nate Gould and GHS Parker Pannell each had a hit.
“We really had a chance to do some damage in the sixth inning with the tying run at the plate, but just didn’t get it done,” said Head Coach Ben Almasy. “This game will help us much more than the six blowout wins. We know what it’s going to take now, and we’re going to work hard to get there.”
The Goodrich Martians tallied three runs on four hits and committed four errors. For the Powers Catholic Chargers, 10 runs on nine hits and no errors.
PHS Issac Sturgess was the winning pitcher with five innings pitched, one earned run and seven strikeouts.
